The Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the European Union, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Rectors Conference (HRK) organised a workshop with the title “European University Networks – Regional groupings, thematic networks or strategic alliances?”. The workshop took place in Brussels on April 16th 2018.
In the ongoing discussion about European University Networks and a intensified effort to connect higher educational institutions and academic cooperation, the Nordic Water Network (NWN) was invited to the workshop as a prime example. Stanisław Rybicki from CUT Cracow and NWN coordinator Markus Fischer were there to introduce the network’s consortium, its objectives, functioning, structures, accomplishments and goals. You can find a short report and the presentations here.
Overall, the DAAD-funded NWN was able to demonstrate the advantages but also challenges of establishing an interdisciplinary network that connects different scientific fields, universities and countries for everyone’s benefit.
